The West Virginia Housing Development Fund is hoping to make it easier for potential home buyers to connect the dots.

A new interactive tool on the WVHDF website, www.wvhdf.com, allows home buyers to connect with lenders who use WVHDF home-buying programs.

After clicking the “find a lender” link on the WVHDF website, a drop-down menu will prompt the home buyer to select his or her county then whether or not he or she is a first-time home buyer, a seasoned home buyer or if he or she would like to refinance.

“We want to make certain potential home buyers or current homeowners who might want to refinance their mortgage know which lenders utilize our programs,” said WVHDF Acting Executive Director Erica Boggess. “We also want our partners in the lending community to connect with those looking to use our programs.

“It truly helps everyone.”

The website also offers access to information such as program guidelines, eligibility requirements as well as both house price and income limits in the counties where a home buyer is interested in purchasing.

David Rathbun, WVHDF senior director of loan origination, developed the concept.

“This is a win-win for everyone,” Rathbun said. “By linking two of our most important stakeholders, we can optimize the start of the home buying process.

“We’ve added additional options for customers over the last few years so we need to give them a better online entryway.

“We are confident this will be helpful and useful.”
