1 Student Flown from West Virginia High School After Fight


UPDATE (4/15/16 at 1:15 p.m.):

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, one student has been charged as a juvenile with malicious assault following a fight Friday morning at North Marion High School.

Chief Deputy Ralph Wright said they finished a juvenile detention hearing with the student, and that he is being detained. No names or ages of the students will be released because they are both minors, the sheriff’s department said.

The student who was flown from the scene is still in the hospital. The sheriff’s department said he will not be charged in the incident. There is no word on his condition at this time.

The student who was charged was not injured in the incident.

Two students were involved in a fight Friday morning at North Marion High School, according to Gary Price, the superintendent of Marion County schools.

One student was hit in the head and was flown from the scene to the hospital.

According to Price, the student was temporarily unconscious and was bleeding but regained consciousness before he was flown from the scene.

Price said he believes charges were filed in the incident.
