2 Arrested For Elaborate Counterfeiting Scheme

Police in Weirton have arrested a two people wanted for counterfeiting throughout the Ohio Valley.

Travis Knight, of Adena, Ohio was arrested at the Townhouse Motel after Weirton Police received a credible tip from the Jefferson County Task Force.

Police say he has been using counterfeit money throughout the entire Ohio Valley.

According to police, Knight passed fake bills in Moundsville, Adena, Wheeling, and Alliance.

Police say when he needed money, he just printed it.

A warrant was issued out of Marshall County for Knight.

Also arrested was Laken Jordan for Conspiracy to Commit Counterfeiting.

“We believe there are additional individuals. We have made contact with the U.S. secret service. They are interested, and they are going to assist us,” said Detective Ricky Grishkevich.

Police say people in the Ohio Valley need to look for bills with the serial number “MB 00837721 B.” The bills are most likely fake. 

Knight and Jordan are in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail.
