Two people are facing numerous charges after a car accident that resulted in a pedestrian being struck by a parking meter.
Bellaire Police were dispatched to a two car crash on 32nd Street in front of the Bellaire Library on Monday. According to police, a car had struck a parked vehicle causing severe damage to both vehicles and striking a parking meter which then struck a pedestrian.
Witnesses say the driver of the striking vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at 32nd and Guernsey streets. According to witnesses, the driver nearly hit a truck and motorcycle rider, before rear ending a parked vehicle.
The driver, Jacob Williams, 19, was charged with Running a Stop Sign, Failure to Control, Driving Under License Suspension, and OVI.
The passenger, Austin Wallace was found to have an outstanding warrant for FTA for drug possession. He was also charged with Assault of a Pedestrian at the scene, Possession of Schedule IV Drugs and Persistent Disorderly Conduct for trying to kick the windows out of the cruiser while being transported to the jail.
Both Wallace and Williams are being charged with Receiving Stolen Property, as they were found to have stolen property from a burglary. Both are also being charged for that burglary according to the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams is also being charged by Shadyside Police Department for the stolen car involved in the crash, as-well-as Criminal Damaging for striking the parking meter along with Drug Possession.
The investigation is continuing.
