3 Webster County Boaters Found Safe, 1 Still Missing

Three of the four boaters, missing after their boat capsized in the Elk River, are safe.

Webster County Fire Chief Don McCourt said after the boat hit a rapid and flipped over, all four boaters swam to the side of the river bank.

After authorities searched more than eight miles of the riverbank, McCourt said they found three of the boaters around 2:45 p.m.

Meanwhile the search continues for the fourth boater.  Authorities believe the fourth boater may have traveled into the woods looking for help.

Crews in Webster County continue their search for multiple missing boaters.
The boat they were traveling in and over turned around 11:00 a.m. Saturday  morning on the Elk River.
Webster Springs Police and Fire Departments, Webster County Sheriff’s Office,  Webster County EMS and Division of Natural Resource officers all responded to the scene.
We will continue to keep you updated on the search.
