62 Dogs Found Living in Cramped Marshall County Home

Shocking conditions were found in the home of a Marshall County woman, who was discovered living with 62 dogs in her small home on Terrell Ridge. The Sheriff’s Department and County Animal Control converged on the house at 9 a.m. Thursday. In the end, all the animals were seized, and authorities are getting help for the woman.

Police said the 69-year-old woman living in the home was overwhelmed. The dogs were mostly small breeds, pugs, poodles, Pekinese, Chinese crested’s, terriers, chihuahuas and mixed breeds. At the animal shelter, volunteers gathered, putting up pens and enclosures for the influx of dogs.

Sheriff Kevin Cecil said there was no cruelty or abuse, and no malnutrition. The 62 dogs were just too much for one person to handle.

Police said they do not believe charges will be filed against the woman, but they are seeking help for her.
