A Wanted Man is Behind Bars after Late Night Chase

Wheeling Police made an arrest on a wanted man after residents in the Carmel Road area complain of a suspicious man walking in their neighborhood.

According to a release; officers responded to the area around 11:30 Monday night to find an unknown male sitting in a parked car with the brake lights on. An officer approached the car and at that time the male inside got out, without facing the officer, and started to walk away. The officer tried to speak with the man, but he then took off running between homes on Carmel Road heading toward National Road.

Several other officers responded to the scene and police combed the area and found 23-year-old Shawn Jacob Scott hiding near the porch of a home in the area. Scott refused to listen to police orders and took off running toward Lynwood, officers then tasered Scott and were able to take him into custody.

Before being taken to the Northern Regional Jail, Scott was examined by the Wheeling Fire Department. He is facing charges of identity theft, receiving stolen property, and fleeing. His bond had not been set as of early Tuesday morning.

Scott was involved in another crime in August of last year when police in Steubenville said they found him in possession of a hypodermic needle as well as a folded cellophane wrapper of unused heroin in his wallet:
