A generous donation from one local organization will benefit several young people throughout the area. On Tuesday, the AEP Foundation presented a $10,000 check to Youth Services Systems Inc.
The money will help support the YSS Transitional Living Program. It helps young people who have little or no outside support transition into adult life It offers housing, training and support young men and women between the ages of 17 and 21. They receive training in areas such as financial management budgeting and food preparation.
“It’s going to be able to offer the critical support needed while they are in a very vulnerable time. This transition phase is very Challenging for a lot of the kids and so we are going to be able to better respond to their needs because of AEP’s generosity,” said YSS Chief Operating Officer, PJ Reindel.
“This year they have a need and we were able to answer it. So I,m very pleased to be able to present them with this check,” said Carmen Prati-Miller of AEP.
The check presentation took place at the McCary Center, which is an eleven unit apartment building that houses several people during their time in the program.
