The man who investigator say is responsible for at least one of the arsons after a string of them this past winter has plead not guilty by reason of insanity to his charges.

Eric Montgomery was arrest in mid July for the aggravated arson in the Pleasant Heights neighborhood. Prosecutor Jane Hanlin say they have very strong evidence against Montgomery for this fire and are still actively investigating if he was responsible for any more of them.

“There was a sock wrapped around a bottle that was found at the scene of the fire with odors of gasoline inside of the bottle,” said Hanlin. “We sent that bottle, and sock that was wrapped around it, to the BCI lab and received evidence that we believe links him by DNA to the sock and the bottle.”

Montgomery’s $250,000 bond was continued.
