One man suffered burns over 60 percent of his body and two women were injured after an alleged meth lab fire in New Martinsville.

According to New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil, the fire occurred at 32 North Triple A Trailer Park in New Martinsville around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. Cecil said the fire was sparked in the bathroom of the trailer where meth was reportedly being made.

Officers arriving on the scene removed two women from the structure and doused the fire with water until the fire department arrived to take control of the blaze. One woman suffered burns on her hand and was treated and released at Wetzel County Hospital, while the other woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

The man inside the trailer suffered burns over 60 percent of his body and was transported to the West Penn Burn Unit by medical helicopter.

Police say the man had initially walked into the Wetzel County Hospital, forcing the hospital to be placed under a “diversion,” in which all doors were locked and no patients were allowed entry until the man was stabilized.

Police say another man walked away from the scene of the fire with unknown injuries. Police continue to search for the man.

No charges had been filed as of Monday morning.
