A local healthcare organization is being recognized for their dedication to promoting organ donations.
The Health Resources and Services Administration has recognized East Ohio Regional Hospital as a Platinum award winner and Ohio Valley Medical Center as a gold award winner.
One organ donor potentially saves the lives of six people.
Staci Trudo is the Vice President of Quality and Risk for Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corporation. She says it’s amazing seeing recipients get another chance at life.
“The letters we get from patients are amazing. Their first time seeing in a long time and sometimes multiple lives are saved. It really is an amazing feeling that out of grief comes something good,” said Trudo.
“Being a donor mom we are very fortunate she marked that box. We’ve kind of gone out on a limb. Some people do not have that same aspiration. I guess it’s a personal choice, but we obviously always encourage people to be registered donors,” said Jodi Miller.
