Authorities Call Off Search For Car Theft Suspect

UPDATE:

The Belmont County Sheriff’s Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol have suspended the search for the suspect wanted in a car theft who fled from police into a wooded area Thursday near Shadyside.

It happened just before noon on Ohio State Rt. 7 near Turkey Point Road, just south of Shadyside, Ohio. 

Authorities said the suspect stole a car on Mead Township Road 534, about a mile north of the Moundsville Bridge. They said the man ditched the car along Rt. 7 and fled into the woods. 

The suspect is described as a white male wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt and red baseball cap.

Right now authorities are searching for a man who they say took off running into a wooded area after stealing a vehicle and being tracked down by police.

It happened just before noon on Ohio State Rt. 7 near Turkey Point Road, just south of Shadyside, Ohio. 

Authorities said the suspect stole a car on Mead Township Road 534, about a mile north of the Moundsville Bridge. They said the man ditched the car along Rt. 7 and fled into the woods. 

Police have recovered the stolen car.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt and red baseball cap.

The Belmont County Sheriff’s Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating.
