Bellaire Community ‘Lights the Town Gold’ for Boy With Cancer

A 15-year-old boy from Bellaire is fighting cancer, but he’s not alone in his battle.

Family friend Walker Polithka brainstormed how to help Codey St. John and his family, and came up with a fundraiser called “Light the Town Gold,” which was held on Sunday night in the village. Unfortunately, Codey was unable to attend because he was re-admitted to the hospital on Sunday, but the community united together and bought t-shirts and gave donations to help out the cause.

Codey is battling a form of cancer known as neuroblastoma. He was diagnosed with the disease at the age of six years old and flies to New York City every three months and to Boston every two months where he has a team of doctors to provide him with treatment.
