Bellaire Man Robbed at Gunpoint at Home, Police Search for Suspect

Bellaire Police are searching for a man who robbed a resident at gunpoint Monday night.

Chief Michael Kovalyk said Bellaire resident Michael Brooms reported that a black male camp up behind him and forced him into his residence on Harrison Street around 10:40 p.m.

Brooms said once inside, the robber fired a shot at home which left a grazing wound to his left forearm. He reported the robber took his jewelry.

Officials said Brooms got away because he told the robber he needed to let his dog out and when he got near the door, he ran out and the robber chased him for a short distance.

Brooms was able to make it to a neighbor’s house where he then call 911. He refused any medical attention.

The robber is described as a black male, wearing all blue clothing and was last seen running out of Brooms’ back door.

Kovalyk said officers recovered a 9mm casing and a bullet in the wall.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bellaire Police Department as officers continue to investigate this robbery.
