Bellaire Police Arrest Three in Two Incidents of Shots Fired and Gun Calls


Police in Belmont County have arrested three people after two shots fired incidents.

Bellaire Police were dispatched to two separate shots fired and gun calls within 45 minutes and two blocks of each location.

According to police, the first call of shots fired was in the 3800 block of Franklin Street where a subject reportedly fired several rounds from a handgun at a residence and people in the same area. A vehicle in that area was also vandalized.

Rasean Pitts, 24 was arrested for two counts of Felonious Assault after he was found hiding in a basement in the 4100 block of Franklin Street.

Police say a 17-year-old juvenile witness to the incident was also arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting arrest and Vandalism.

Officers recovered several casings from the discharged firearm. Pitts was transported to the Belmont County Jail where he also had two outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear. He was also out on bond from Ohio County on a Drug Charge.

Bond was set for the Felonious Assault charges at $30,000. There is a no bond on the Failure to Appear charge.

Ohio County Prosecutor’ Office contacted Bellaire Police and will determine if his bond will be revoked in Ohio County.

The juvenile was transported to the Sargus Detention Center.

The second incident in the 4200 block of Noble Street involved a female who pointed a gun at her husband and she was taken into custody without incident.

Charese Rhodes, 34 was arrested for Domestic Violence, Aggravated Menacing and a Violation of Persons Under 21.

Chief Mike Kovalyk reported there were no injuries in either incident.
