If your family has been looking to adopt a shelter dog without paying a $125 adoption fee, here’s your chance. On Sunday, the Belmont County Animal Shelter is waiving their adoption fee, making each dog free.
It’s part of the shelter’s “Pampered Pooch Party”. From noon until 3 p.m., all 54 dogs at the shelter will be walked, brushed, pet and pampered. Dog lovers are invited to stop in and participate.
Shelter Director Angela Hatfield said they will have vintage pet jewelry from sale, and food and refreshments are available with a donation to the shelter. “We have 54 dogs here and we’re hoping to get lots of people because Daphne’s Place is actually paying for every adoption that takes place Sunday.”
Travis “The Terror” Clark, a professional cage fighter, will also be there for a meet and greet and to sign autographs. Clark said he will take pictures with anyone who brings a donation from the Belmont County Shelter’s wish list. Items include: paper towels, bleach, Dawn dishwashing liquid, cat litter and cat and dog food.
There is also another event taking place on Saturday, the annual K-9 Classic Race for Man’s Best Friend will be held on the National Trail Bike Path in St. Clairsville. Registration for that event is at 8:30 a.m., and the race starts at 10 a.m.. It is also held to benefit the homeless animals of Belmont County.
