Belmont County Authorities Review Alleged Sexual Incident Report, No Charges Filed Yet

Martins Ferry Police and the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office are keeping a tight lid on a case that just came to their attention recently.

Local authorities are not disclosing any details regarding an incident that allegedly happened a little more than two months ago.

Officials said the case was just brought to their attention recently and the Martins Ferry Police Department filed a complete report, which is in the hands of Belmont County Prosecutor Dan Fry.

He said he has never had a case like this in his career.

“The factual situation that I’ve been presented with is highly unusual in my experience,” Fry said. “We received a report yesterday of an alleged sexually oriented incident that took place on April 25 of this year in Martins Ferry. That report is under review right now, it’s in the office and it’s being looked at. No charges have been filed as of right now.”

Fry said this is going to require some study because it is so unusual. The police indicated that they will speak out and tell the whole story once charges are filed, but not before.
