On Sunday, firefighters in Belmont County gathered for a day of important training. Firefighters from Wolfhurst, Bridgeport and Brookside went through search and rescue training.
During the training, fire crews used smoke machines to fill a house, and had to go through the home to save anyone still inside. Wolfhurst Fire Chief Matt Otto said that aspect of the job is by far the most important. “This is the part of what we do that nobody ever sees. It takes a lot of training to do what we do, and this is what we’re really focused on today,” he said.
The home used for the training was donated by a friend of one of the departments, and is scheduled for demolition in the near future.
