Belmont County Police Looking for Smash-and-Grab Suspect

Police in Belmont County are looking for another smash-and-grab suspect and need your help.

It happened the same way as the others, but this time it was at the Flushing Convenient, not a gas station.

Detectives with the sheriff’s department are studying the surveillance video, although not releasing it to the public yet.

But there are ways that people can reach out and help right now.

“We’re looking out to the community, that if anybody out there knows or sees someone with an abundance, with cartons of cigarettes or knows someone, please give us a call. It’s very hard because normally they’re in and out within a minute. So, and they know they’re being videotaped so they cover up,” said Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas.

He says the last few smash-and-grabs have taken only about 45 seconds from entry to exit. The thief breaks a window or door, fills a large trash bag with cartons of cigarettes and runs away.

If you know anything, call the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department at (740) 695-7933.
