For the 11th-consecutive season, the Bethany College men’s basketball team (17-10) will appear in post-season play, as they have been invited to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Regional Tournament, announced the ECAC on Monday. The Bison, who earned the eighth seed, will travel to Erie, Pa. to take on the top-seeded Lions of Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, March 4.

The Green & White earned their way into the ECAC South Regional tournament after finishing their 2014-15 season with a 17-10 overall record, including winning 11 of their last 14 games. The team also appeared in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship Tournament semifinals.

This season, the Bison averaged 67.8 points per game, while leading the PAC in steals per contest (10.1). The Green & White were led by senior guard Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) who was recently named the PAC Player of the Year after averaging 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.2 steals per night.

Other leading scorers for the Bison included Alan Harper (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) and Jeff Joynes (Baltimore, Md./Poly). Harper finished the season averaging 9.2 points per game, while Joynes totaled 9.1 per night.

Bethany will open the ECAC tournament against the Lions, who enter the contest with an overall record of 23-3, having won the regular season title in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). The Lions were then upset by Hilbert, 64-59, in the semifinals of the AMCC Championship Tournament.

This season, the Lions were led by forwards Zane Hackett and Wes Davic, as well as senior guard Nick DeLisio. Hackett led the team in points per game (15.8) while Davic averaged a double-double on the season, scoring 10.0 points per game while adding 11.2 rebounds. DeLisio, the team’s top marksman, averaged 14.2 points per contest.

The Bison and Lions will square off on Wednesday at 7 p.m. If Bethany claims a victory over Penn State Behrend, the Green & White will own the hosting rights for the remainder of the ECAC South Championship Tournament, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 & 8.
