Bethany’s Delonte’ Joyce Earns First Team All-Great Lakes Region Honors

The accolades continue to pile up for Bethany College senior men’s basketball standout Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), as he was recently named a First-Team All-Great Lakes Region Selection by on Monday morning.

Joyce, who was also named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Year following the 2014-15 campaign, had the best statistical season of his career, earning the PAC scoring crown by averaging 19.0 points per game during the regular season. Joyce amassed 554 total points, en route to becoming Bethany’s 25th 1,000-point scorer in school history. He finished the year with a league-best 14, 20-point performances. He also posted four 30-point nights, as many as all other players in the conference, combined.

Also a terrific defender, Joyce finished the year with a league best 92 steals, averaging 3.2 per contest. His steals average ranked him fourth in all of Division III. Joyce totaled at least four steals in a game on 11 separate occasions, posting a season-high nine, twice. His totals helped the Bison put together the conference’s top defense, averaging 10.1 steals per game.

At the culmination of his career, Joyce currently ranks 22nd on Bethany’s career scoring list (1,074) and also ranks fourth in career steals with 194. His 92 steals over the course of the season came just one shy of breaking the Bethany single-season steals record. However, he currently has the second and third highest single-season marks in Bison history.

Joyce becomes the first Bison since Nick Wilcox in 2011-12 to earn a First-Team All-Region selection.

With his All-Region selection, Joyce is now eligible to earn All-American recognition. The All-American teams will be announced at the end of this week, in conjunction with the Division III men’s and women’s championships.
