Kids are learning about the dangers of drugs this week from authorities who have seen first hand, the destruction and tragedy they can cause.
To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, Ohio County schools are holding several different events including U.S. Attorney Bill Ihlenfeld speaking to fourth and fifth grade students about how dangerous drugs can be, especially in this area.
“We talk about all the different types of drugs and this age group is a little bit unique in that they’re fourth and fifth graders. They haven’t quite seen and heard everything that our normal audiences have seen and so we’ve tweaked the message so that it’s appropriate for their age but also will hopefully be helpful to them going forward,” Ihlenfeld said.
Bethlehem Elementary Principal Zac Shutler believes the students understood and responded well to the presentation.
William Ihlenfeld will continue to make this presentation this week to other schools around Ohio County.
