Upon investigating the Bridgeport Police Department evacuated the building, then called in the Columbus Bomb Squad. The bomb disposable robot used rendered the package safe around 7 this evening, and authorities did not find any bomb making material inside. The suspicious package was in a plastic trash bag in front of the Citizen’s Bank front entrance, and is thought to have been a crock pot.

“We’re not sure why the Crock-Pot was there, but regardless it was there and it was reported as suspicious. So, we just took precautionary measures to keep everyone safe,” Bridgeport Police Chief Andrew Klotz told 7 News.
The Bridgeport Police Department also evacuated the area up to 300 feet surrounding Citizen’s Bank.
The evacuation was lifted and the road being blocked off was re-opened shortly after the bomb squad gave the all clear.
