The suspected shooter of a Mingo Junction teen bond remains at $1-million. Jefferson County Judge Michelle Miller denied Dan Michael Thompson’s request to have it lowered from Steubenville  municipal court where it was set by Judge John Mascio in February for city charges. Those charges include Tampering With Evidence, Receiving Stolen Property and having a concealed weapon loaded.

However, Thompson’s attorney, Aaron Miller, argued since he has yet to be charged or indicted by a grand jury, two of which have met since he was charged on February 21, on the shooting charges, $1-million is too high.  Judge Miller disagreed.

“I believe he poses such a serious risk to the community, and certainly, I’m not sure if he would be very safe outside either, given some of the situations that have arisen regarding the gangs, drugs, and gun violence that’s occurring,” Miller said before making her decision.

The judge also cited Thompson’s criminal past as a reason for not lowering the bond.
