It was a time for the Brooke County community to come together as Follansbee Memorial Park hosted their annually Community Days on Saturday.
Brooke County shut down parts of Follansbee for a citywide parade before ending with games, food, and entertainment at the Memorial Park as part of their Community Days celebration. Community Days was a great time to let Brooke County families know about services available in their neighborhood.
“Energy Express is we give them two nutritious meals a day and it’s to stop the summer slide which is from them falling behind when they’re out of school,” Community Coordinator, Kirsten Singer says. “We also do a lot of one on one reading and guest readers too.”
Energy Express wanted to make sure they reached out to the families who attend Community Days so they added a lot of new games free of charge.
There was plenty to draw the people park to Memorial Park for more Community Days activities.
“We come down to enjoy the parade that they had, for the good food, and the good entertainment later tonight,” Rich McCullough says.
Community Days wrap up Saturday night with a massive fireworks display as soon as the sun goes down.
