Brooke County Commissioners said they are embarrassed and want something done with the amount of litter scattered throughout the county.
During the commission meeting, the issue of litter was brought up. Commissioner Tim Ennis said it is the number one concern he hears from people coming to the courthouse.
He said something needs to be done as soon as possible. “I think it does deter business. I think it deters a lot of things when people drive through and see how the communities look. I think the cleaner your community, the brighter promises that you have in the future.”
Ennis added unfortunately, the county does not have the man power or funding to be able to monitor the litter. The commissioners will be seeking funding with the help of legislatures or the jail system.
Beech Bottom will be holding a Spring clean up during the second weekend of April to help with the litter problem.
