One group in Brooke County says ever since the county-wide public smoking ban went into effect on July 1, their profits have suffered greatly.
Members of the Wellsburg Moose Lodge were at the Brooke County Commissioners meeting earlier today to voice their concerns.
Commissioner Jimmy Andreozzi said there is a compromise and balance that needs to be found to resolve this issue, and they are going to look into the numbers of other businesses as well to compare.
We asked long-time Moose member Paul Fillinger about the option of building an outdoor smoking pavilion similar to the one at Mountaineer Race Track, he said that is not an option for them.
“No, we got two streets and an alley. There’s no place for us to go non-smoking. I mean, there’s nothing there,” said Fillinger.
Lodge members said they will also bring their concerns to the next Brooke County Board of Health Meeting.
