The Shadyside Tigers’ Marching Band has 44 members, but when they take the field, the crowd gets an infusion of excitement and team spirit.
Shadyside’s Marching Band isn’t your average high school band. Members start in 7th grade!
“They’re a hard-working group of kids. They’re fun to be with. This is my first year here. They welcomed me and I’m really glad I’m here,” said Band Director, Lindy Cole.
Leadership is not a problem in this band.
“They’re good at working together. They come up with projects and they work them out together. I don’t have to, they’re like leaders themselves,” said Cole.
“Our band director is amazing. And she teaches us leadership and how to all get along. She really holds us together,” said Matti Burget.
This year’s music comes from Ozzy Osborne, the Jackson Five, even the movie Pitch Perfect.
“We’re all friends. We have a good time. We work hard when we need to but it’s fun with everybody,” said Sarah Teasdale.
“We’re all friends. We actually all get along which is hard to find sometimes,” said Burget.
