Dozens of people turned out for a candlelight vigil to remember a young man struck down by violence.
Gregg Thompson, 21, died in his friend’s arms late Wednesday night.
Police seek two suspects whom they believe entered his apartment at Jaycee Manor and shot him, leaving him to bleed to death.
A local minister offered words of comfort to the crowd, reminding them of other blood that was shed, and a greater authority.
“There is violence everywhere, but still, God is greater than the violence. There’s trouble everywhere — but still grace goes beyond the trouble,” said Elder James Agnew III with the Tree of Life Apostolic Church.
Friends who described Thompson as a warm, generous person wept openly at the vigil — and the makeshift memorial in his memory.
