Citizens of Bellaire, OH taking action to change, clean up their village

Sometimes all it takes is a small group with big dreams and even bigger hearts to bring about a change and that’s exactly what’s happening in Bellaire, OH.

They call themselves the Bellaire Citizen’s Action Group and they’ve been around since 2012, working to clean up and maintain a sense of community in the village.

They host several events throughout most of the year, from the Ohio Valley Farmer’s Market to an annual yard sale in the park. They have even purchased signs directing people to the marina and also developed this picnic area there as well.

Susan West, a board member of Bellaire Citizen’s Action Group said they want to go far beyond picking up trash.

“We want people to once again take pride in Bellaire. We want to see the businesses step up and clean up their store fronts and open them to people who want to put businesses in Bellaire,” she said. “We have a bigger picture in mind.”

The group has also purchased several cigarette disposal containers and placed them outside of businesses so smokers have a place, other than the ground, to dispose of their cigarette butts.

Anyone who would like to get more involved can do so by visiting the Bellaire Citizen’s Action Group Facebook page:
