The ground is broken and now construction can begin for two companies expanding their business in the northern panhandle.
Construction crews are hard at work at the Three Springs Industrial Park in Weirton where Barney’s Bakery and the Frank Brownlee Trucking Facility are being built.
Business Development Corporation Executive Director Pat Ford said breaking ground at these sites signifies the amount of development that is increasing in Weirton.
“People are now starting to realize based on the success of Rue 21, what a great location Weirton is for transportation logistics,” Ford said. “We are centrally located within the region within a days drive of 2/3 of the United States population and 1/3 of the population of Canada.”
Ford said this is a $4 million investment in the city of Weirton and could create over 30 jobs.
Ford said he expects construction for Barney’s Bakery to be completed within the next six to nine months. The Frank Brownlee Trucking Facility should only take 90 to 100 days to be completed.
