

Firefighters worked to contain a fire early Thursday morning in Wheeling and are now trying to determine a cause.
It happened about 4 a.m. at 407 South York Street. Authorities said they encountered heavy fire in the third floor attic, but were able to contain the blaze to the home. The property next door suffered heat damage, authorities said.
The fire was extinguished about 5:30 a.m. It is unclear if anyone was home at the time.
Authorities said an investigator will be on scene to determine a cause.
