A dad sold his teenage son’s SUV on Craigslist after he got sick of his son smoking weed and “acting all thug.”
Allan Gieger Jr., the Florida dad, even offered to lower the price by $250 if the buyer lived nearby so his son would sometimes see the vehicle and remind him “how good he had it!”
“I’ve been having some issues with my son over the past year. I don’t want to see him struggle the way I did, ” Gieger told CNN.
Allan Gieger Jr. told CNN he did it only with his son’s best interest at heart.
Gieger’s is just the most recent example of parental tough love that has caught the attention of the Internet. Some other examples are the dad who shot his daughter’s laptop and the mom who posted a video of her berating her teen for suggestive posts.
The Craigslist post has been shared over a thousand times on Facebook, with a mostly positive reaction.
Gieger told CNN that he has received calls and messages praising him for “standing for up for other parents.”
