The Wheeling Police Department is reminding residents and commercial businesses to register their burglar alarm systems by this Saturday, October 1.
It is part of the city’s new false alarm ordinance. If you fail to register your systems, you will be fined a $100 civil penalty. If you fail to renew an alarm, it is a $25 fee.
All burglar alarm users within city limits can register their devices with Cry Wolf Services, which is an outside agency that manages the database and fines related to a false alarm call. It is free to register.
There are two ways to register your devices: visit crywolfservices.com/wheelingwv or call (855) 905-0616.
Life Alert, fire and car alarms are not required to be registered.
