If you live in Belmont County you likely know about McMillan Road in Barnesville, if your do not, you may want to take a drive before Santa arrives.
Because towards the end of the lane you can’t miss the house on the left, that’s all lit up like this.
With more than 20 inflatables and thousands of twinkling lights, it’s a sight you must see and it doesn’t come with a price.
Though their electric bill may be double, putting on this display is no trouble.
“I do it for all of the kids really,” Home Owner and Decorator Vernann MacMillan said. “They just get so excited. I had one little boy in there and he said ‘I just love your lights I want that I want our yard to look like this’.”
It’s that same fascination that’s led Vernann to make her own beautiful creation that’s just as impressive inside as it is out.
“When I was a child we use to go to Dillionvalle, my mom’s parents were from there, and up on the hill we always looked at stuff up there and it was beautiful,” she recalled. “I always said oh how pretty and I went on and on and on about that and I guess that’s probably what started it.”.
It started small with a few polar bears but continues to grow year after year.
Each decoration has its own special spot, but if you would like to see you’ll have to stop.
The display can be seen starting at 5:30 p.m.,but you’ll have to hurry lights are out at 11:30 p.m.
The house has gotten so popular it has received the nickname, “Little Oglebay.”
Vernanne says it takes almost five and half days to put all of the decorations up and another 20 minutes to plug everything in.
