A portion of Fourth Street in Martins Ferry has been blocked off ever since a fire in early October that destroyed several businesses.
Progress is being made and those buildings could be torn down before the end of November. Martins Ferry Mayor, Robert Krajnyak, said they’re waiting for the insurance companies to finalize their investigations and for the State of Ohio to finish their asbestos testing. Once those two things are done demolition will begin shortly after.
It’s anticipated that the buildings could be down by Thanksgiving.
