A detective made a shocking find at a gas station in New Martinsville while on his way to work.

Detective Donnie Harris with the New Martinsville Police Department was filling up his cruiser when he happened to look on the ground. That’s where Harris says he found four heroin stamps.

They look almost like salt packets, but with distinctive markings on the outside.

“That was one of the things we wanted to get out so some of the public would know what to look for. We wouldn’t want a kid to come across these and ingest these somehow, really because when I showed them to the people in the store, they were like ‘we would have thrown those away. We had no idea what that was,'” Det. Harris said.

The police department does not have any leads on where the heroin came from. Harris believes it simply fell out of someone’s pocket when they were pumping gas.
