A drug forum, which will be the first of its kind in the Ohio Valley is scheduled for Wednesday night at Wheeling Hospital. As the dangers of drug abuse have found their way into every neighborhood in the Ohio Valley, the force to push back is now under way.

The forum will allow the community to come together for the chance to fight back against the drugs that are destroying countless lives across the region.

The Ohio Valley Addiction Action Plan is a new committee that consists of eight sub-committees, each specializing in different areas like law enforcement, media, education and treatment around Wheeling. They all have the common goal of combating drug addiction.

“There have been hundreds of hours invested in this by the people on these sub committees. Not just the chairs, but the people under the chairs of the subcommittees and not one person that we’ve asked to help has said no. Instead every person has said, what can I do to help,” said United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld.

The forum starts at 6 p.m. in the Wheeling Hospital Auditorium, look for continuing coverage on 7 News at 10 and 11.
