Last year there were more than 4,100 drugged-driving related crashes in Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, that is an increase of 23% from 2011.
Some of the crashes were fatal, others resulted in injuries or property damage. They’re seeing this increased problem all across the state and in our area as well.
“We’re seeing people who are smoking marijuana all the time, getting behind the wheel. People are taking too many prescription pills who are getting behind the wheel. It’s becoming more and more prevalent everyday,” said Ohio State Highway Patrol SGT. Robert Bodo.
Sgt. Bodo adds that getting behind the wheel under the influence of drugs has the same consequences as drinking and driving.
