Dump Truck Accident Turns Deadly in West Virginia

DAWSON, WV – A McDowell County man was killed while traveling along Interstate 64 on Tuesday, August, 9, 0216.  The accident happened at around 6:09 a.m. at Mile Marker 151, which is near Dawson.

Investigators said a dump truck owned by RDD Trucking Company of Laeger was traveling on the highway.  The dump bed was apparently in the “up” position and hit a bridge that went over the Interstate.  The impact caused the dump bed to be knocked off.  The truck then flipped over and came to a stop in the median.  

The driver of the truck was Brandon Lockhart, 36, of Laeger, WV.  Deputies said he died of injuries he received in the accident.  

The accident is being investigated by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.
