Officials in Harrison County are excited about the economic future after the announcement of plans to build a new 1,000 megawatt natural gas-fired electrical power generation facility.
They say they are about 60% sure at this point they will break ground in the near future bringing more than 500 construction jobs to complete the acre plant in the Harrison County Industrial Park.
The plant is expected to be completed and up in running in 2021.
“This can bridge that gab between that potential cracker plant construction that could happen in Belmont County, and what we know is moving forward a cracker plant in beaver county Pennsylvania. Once this project is moving forward and it’s hopefully completed there will be other business and industry related to the oil and gas industry that can locate near and around this project to help create more jobs,” said Nicholas Homrighausen, Executive Director of Community and Economic Development in Harrison County.
Homrighausen adds that 30 to 50 permanent jobs will added at the projects completion.
