She’s been a member of the Wheeling community since the spring but no one really knew what to call her. Now “Bobo the Elephant” at the Heritage Port Park and Sculpture Garden officially has a name.

The park was dedicated this morning to kick off Fourth of July festivities in the Friendly City with the help of mayor Andy McKenzie, Susan Hogan of ReInvent Wheeling, metal artist Jeff Forster, and Gary and Flip West who helped contribute to the park and Garden and even got to name Bobo.

“This is a project that city council felt very strongly about that it was a gateway to our downtown and Heritage Port, something we’re very proud of in our city,” Wheeling Mayor Andy McKenzie.

Good news, Bobo is going to get some friends soon. Metal artist Jeff Forster is working on another herring for the side of the adjacent building, a groundhog, and finishing up Thomas the Turtle.
