It was once one of the most heated rivalries in the entire NFL but in recent years the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns meetings have been extremely one sided. Sunday marked the beginning of a new season and new hope for both teams coming off disappointing seasons.
It’s safe to say to there was plenty of optimism and enthusiasm at TJ’s Sports Garden in Wheeling. Normally for Browns fans like Nolan Whitely, the opening kickoff is the only optimistic and enthusiastic part of the season.
“Every year you go in thinking we’re going to be Super Bowl champs but it never turns out that way. This is the year we’re going to get it done, Manziel’s going to take us to the playoffs and we’ll win this all,” Whitely said.
Meanwhile Steelers fans had more realistic expectations for this season.
“10-6 I’m Thinking,” said Steelers fan Zach Johnson.
The Steelers did hold on to beat the Browns 30-27 Sunday as Shaun Suisam kicked a game-winning field as time expired.
