Firefighters teach kids about “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep”

Some Belmont County Elementary students got to do some interactive learning today. Pre-k through 4th graders at Bridgeport Elementary got to do what the firefighters do as part of Fire Prevention Week.  This year’s theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep,” reminding kids to tell their parents that every bedroom in their homes needs its own smoke detector.
First, they heard a presentation on fire safety, then, even got to put out a “fire” on a simulation house before getting to tour the fire engines in their very own plastic fire helmets, but they weren’t the only ones having a good time.

“Oh, we love it, we love it.  It’s great to see the smiles on these kids’ face and interact with them,” said 2015 Belmont County Fire Prevention Week Chairman Kevin Roberts.

Firefighters from Bridgeport, Brookside, and Wolfhurst all came together for this morning of fun.
