Another suspicious-looking fire burned in downtown Steubenville Sunday night into Monday morning.  This is now the 4th in a little more than a week. This  time, the vacant structure is on North 7th Street, just a few blocks from the three fires last weekend.

Steubenville fire chief Carlo Capaldi says that have not established a pattern or connection, but inspectors are putting together a map and timeline of all of the recent blazes and this does appear to be a, “set fire.”  He also says, to protect your neighborhood, make sure you report any unsecured, abandoned homes to the city.

“At this point in time, I would say if you have a structure in your neighborhood, you may want to keep  an extra eye on it. Just to make sure nobody is messing around in it, make sure it is secured,” said Capaldi.

To report an unsecured, vacant structure, call the city of Steubenville at 740-283-6000.
