A dispute over Ohio’s authority to regulate oil-and-gas operations, including wells disposing of fracking wastewater, will go to trial in Columbus on Tuesday.
At issue is the Ohio department of natural resource’s power to take action against the Youngstown-area wastewater injection well, which disposes of wastewater from hydraulic fracturing and sits near where at least 20 small earthquakes occurred in 2014.
American Water Management Services claims state actions against its well defy science.
