Fridays meant flashbacks at 7News as former employees were invited to jump in the saddle one last time.

This week we had the honor of working with Frank O’Brien. If you’ll recall O’Brien was a 7News anchor and reporter for 19-years. He started at 7News in the late 1980’s covering thousands of stories, hitting the streets to get the latest information on all of the stories he reported.

In 2005, O’Brien felt that it was time to hang up his news hat and moved on to become the Executive Director of the Wheeling/Ohio County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, “I thought that ‘Okay, I’m done,I’ll probably never do this again goodbye,’ but 11-years later as a Flashback Friday promotion, which I think is kind of cool, you asked me to come back and do a half hour at 6 and thank gosh it was like riding a bike; I really didn’t forget. It was fun,” O’Brien said.

He’s married to Gloria O’Brien and the two have two sons, Zach and Ian. They also have two granddaughters, Harper, 5, and Charlotte 2. O’Brien says being a grandpa is one of the best things that has happened in his life since leaving the news business.
