Our community’s fight against substance abuse is receiving support from a place known for its haircuts and styling.
The local franchisee of Great Clips has kicked in a donation of $500 to assist local “Drug Free Clubs” in their efforts to keep kids away from drugs.
Students from both Wheeling Park and John Marshall High Schools came to Warwood for the check presentation from Great Clips.
“Here at Great Clips, we really think that it’s a good way to give back to the community, to get this awareness to our young children as early we possibly can,” says Jill Persinger, a Great Clips Hairstylist.
“I think they help encourage kids and give kids a reason to say, ‘No’ to using certain substances, and gives everybody an excuse that they can use so they don’t have to be embarrassed to not using drugs,” says Wheeling Park High School senior Spencer Rogers.
Drug Free Clubs submit students to voluntary drug testing twice a year. Members receive “perks” at school for staying drug-free.
