When it comes to adventure, Marshall County, West Virginia may not be the first place to come to mind.
Jesse Mestrovic of the Greater Moundsville Convention and Visitors Bureau is hoping to change that.
In just a few weeks on the job, Mestrovic has already changed the name and came up with a new logo to embrace everything Moundsville and Marshall County has to offer to not only those passing through but also those still living in the area.
“Well, right now I’ve just been going around the county and seeing all the tourist attractions, just trying to learn all I can about those attractions, as well as trying to educate other people about those attractions,” said Mestrovic. “Really utilizing the website as much as I can and Facebook and social media, Instagram, Twitter, all that good stuff. Just trying to get the name out there and making people aware.”
That name used to be the Marshall County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau but Mestrovic believes the new Greater Moundsville name will allow the bureau to be set apart from other Marshall Counties in the United State and be unique to the Ohio Valley.
“There’s Marshall Counties all over the country. We also have the confusion with Marshall University in the great state of West Virginia,” said Mestrovic. “We feel that Moundsville is more of an identifier to really bring people in. When you travel, you really don’t know what kind of county you’re in so you know what town you’re in so that’s the whole concept.”
