UPDATE 6:50 am Monday:
Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler says only the fast lane is open right now on Interstate 70 Eastbound near the Highlands exit.
This is after crews responded to a truck going over the hill near exit 10 early Monday morning.
Then, another accident happened just down the hill in traffic when a car hit a semi from behind. One person was entrapped, but was taken out of the vehicle.
Sheriff Butler does not believe their injuries are life threatening at this time.
Clean up crews are en route to clean up a diesel spill from the initial accident, causing extended lane closures.
Two of three eastbound lanes on Interstate 70 are closed due to an accident.
As of 6:00 am Monday, traffic appeared to be backed-up for at least a mile.
According to the Interstate-70 Twitter account, this is due to an accident near Exit 10.
We’ll work to keep you updated.
